Rotto

October 15, 2017

In a few days time we will be on the road, heading east towards the other side of the country. The reality of leaving the west coast is sinking in hard and I've had to accept that these dreamy two years of living in what surely must be one of the most beautiful places on earth, is over. Such is life. It would be easy for me to slip into a malaise at this point, as I don't want to leave, but you know, change is inevitable and I'll save myself a lot of grief by being appreciative, looking at the past two years with gratitude, and letting go. Yep, it's time to let go...oh but how do you say goodbye to paradise?

One of my favourite places to visit here has been Rottnest Island. It's only a half hour boat trip away and an amazing place for immersing in the natural world both above and below the waves. With water the colour of blue lemonade, white sandy beaches, the happiest creatures on earth (quokkas) and an abundance of marine life, there is little not to love about Rotto (as it is known to the locals). We have spent many days exploring the underwater wonderland at Salmon and Little Salmon Bay, laughing at the New Zealand Fur Seals at West End and walking the untouched coastline around the island. These were good days indeed!

I took a trip to Rotto a week ago to say goodbye to this special place. Goodbye for now, that is! I've no doubt I'll visit again someday. The pull in my heart will be too great to resist! Anyway, I went armed with my camera and took lots of photos to remind me of our days here.  I'm sure you can see why I'm finding it so hard to leave.

Til' next time Rotto! I luv ya through and through.
