Hymn to Her explores female figures in western folklore and mythology (particularly from places that define my own genealogy and cultural experience of the world.) In middle life I find myself more curious than ever about the female experience, the stories we tell ourselves and the lies we’ve been sold. Folklore and mythology speak to the human experience in the most imaginative, visceral and often ruthless ways. Full blast emotions, unhinged gods, tragedies deeper than I can fathom - these stories strip and lay bare all our fears, desires, shadows and impulses. In a world ruled by men I often dream of an alternative and these myths and stories have provided a space for me to believe it is possible.
